While Bali is known for its beaches, head inland toward Ubud’s rich rainforest to find one of the world’s most spectacular infinity pools. Located at the Hanging Gardens of Bali boutique hotel and designed by prominent Indonesian architect Popo Danes, the two-level granite pool is nestled among the treetops and offers an inimitable view.
Sri Lanka’s Heritance Hotel has a pool for everyone. While the Kaludiya (a natural pool) and the Rashmi (large enough to play water sports) are both great picks, opt for Kachchan, an infinity pool that borders Kandalama lake and features live flute music every night.
Open from sunrise to sunset, the Nuna at the Punta Mita Four Seasons is a free-form infinity pool that overlooks the Pacific Ocean, the scenic Riviera Nayarit coastline, and a killer pool bar, which features ceviches, tacos, and icy cocktails. If you’re lucky, you may even see a humpback whale in the distance (especially if you go between early December and the end of March, when thousands flood to the area for the official viewing season).
